PrintPlace Comparison and Review
PrintPlace Review
Pros:
- Low cost: costs 6 cents/card (Market Standard is 8 cents/card)
- High quality default card (scored 4 out of 5 stars)
- Faster shipping options available: Next Day and 1-2 Day, and 3-Day shipping
- Phone, email and live chat customer support available
Cons:
- No design tool (scored 0 out of 5 stars)
Conclusion:
PrintPlace is a good choice for people who have already created design for their business cards. The main advantage of PrintPlace is that they offer quality cards at a lower than average cost. However, they are print-only service and do not provide you with design templates or tools to help you create a business card from scratch, which are offered by many other services we’ve reviewed. PrintPlace meets all of our standards for a business cards printing service and also offer special card options, such as rounded corners, special cutouts/shapes and foldover cards.
Default Card
We rated PrintPlace’s default card 4 out of 5 stars. PrintPlace provides our Market Standard default cardstock of 14 point, as well as our Market Standard default card size of 2"x3.5". They offer a choice of either glossy or matte as the default finish at no additional cost (typically glossy finish costs extra). Their default card meets all of our market standards, but it is not as high quality as some of the other business cards we have reviewed.
Designing Your Card
Uploading Your Own Design
If you have a business card design already created, or you plan to create one, this vendor will let you upload your design, select your options, and print your cards.
Using a Predesigned Template
PrintPlace does not offer any predesigned templates. The majority of other business card printing services we’ve reviewed offer predesigned templates for you to use when creating your design.
Creating a Card from Scratch
We rated PrintPlace 0 out of 5 stars for creating a card from scratch. PrintPlace does not offer any kind of design tool for you to create your own card, which is not standard. Most of the other business card printing companies we’ve reviewed offer design tools that help you create your card from scratch. However, you can download a blank business card template to your computer, add your design, and upload it to their site to be printed (as shown in the picture below.
Options & Upgrades
PrintPlace offers traditional, flat print cards. They offer 14 point card stock, as well as both matte and glossy finishes. PrintPlace also offers other upgrades and finishes, such as rounded corners, special shapes and cutouts, and foldover cards.
Shipping & Delivery
PrintPlace is located in Texas and does their shipping through UPS, so shipping time varies with location. Faster shipping options such as next day, 1-2 day, and 3-day shipping are available through UPS.
Customer Support
PrintPlace offers high quality phone, email, and live chat support. Their phone support is available Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST. We found them to be very helpful and quick when responding to our questions, and there were no wait times.
Pricing
PrintPlace offers 250 business cards for $15.50, which comes out to about 6 cents per card. This is relatively inexpensive compared to other online vendors, as our Market Standard is 8 cents per card. It costs an additional $5 to print on the back side of 250 cards (price varies with order size). Their other order sizes range from 500 cards to 100,000 cards. PrintPlace does not provide a money-back guarantee, but will reprint your order for free in the event that a printing mistake is their fault. They also provide a professional review of your business cards for $25.
