UPrinting Conclusion

At 10 cents/card, uPrinting’s pricing was well within our Market Standard.  The total turnaround time of six business days is much faster than our Market Standard of eight to 12 days.  uPrinting offers 500 standard, predesigned templates. We rated uPrinting’s design tool 4 out of 5 stars because of its easy-to-use WYSIWG editor.  For card quality, we gave uPrinting 3 out of 5 stars because, while the card did not crease when bent, the card did not hold its shape. uPrinting’s default cardstock is 14 point, and their default card finish is glossy.

Designing Your Card

uPrinting offers 500 standard, predesigned templates, which means these templates use stock images and clipart. Backside printing on uPrinting’s cards is free, as is uploading your own pictures. However, no one will proof your card before printing, so make sure you are careful with your design.  

We rated uPrinting’s design tool 4 out of 5 stars. This high rating was attributed to the fact that uPrinting had an easy-to-use WYSIWG editor, which had advanced alignment and movement options, grid lines that made it easy to align text, bleed lines where the business card will be cut, and the ability to lock individual card elements. You are also able to easily drag and drop images and text on the card; however, you cannot manually draw on the card with pencil, brush or shape tools.

Card Quality

For card quality, we gave uPrinting 3 out of 5 stars because, while the card did not crease when bent, the card did not hold its shape. Also, it was not easy to write on the cards and the card did not feel very sturdy.

Cardstock, Finishes & Upgrades

uPrinting’s default cardstock is 14 point, and their default card finish is glossy. Uprinting also offers matte cards. Other upgrades include 14 point Cover Gloss, 14 point Cover Matte, and 13 point Cover Uncoated. For an additional $10, you can get rounded corners on your cards. Additional services include brochures, catalogs, envelopes, letterheads, and magnet business cards.

Pricing & Turnaround Time

uPrinting’s price of 10 cents/card, was at the cheaper end of our Market Standard.  An order of 250 cards costs $24.93. The lowest shipping option cost us $7.52, and it took six days for us to receive our cards. This turnaround time is faster than our Market Standard of eight to 12 days.
