GreatFX Conclusion
GreatFX gives you the tools to create standard business cards online. Their user-friendly design tool makes it easy to create a professional card, but the quality of the card was somewhat average. They also have a high price per card and relatively slow turnaround time, according to our Market Standard.
Designing Your Card
GreatFX offers several hundred pre-designed templates to help you create your business cards. The templates are standard quality, which means that they feature stock images and clip art that you can use in your business cards design. GreatFX also offers free printing on the back side of your business cards and allows you to upload your logo or custom image for free.
We rated GreatFX’s Design Tool 3 out of 5 stars. GreatFX offers a WYSIWYG editor, which features advanced alignment tools and movement options to help you edit your business cards design. A handy feature of their editor is the option to display grid lines on the card to help you align text and images precisely. They also show you cut and bleed lines that help you gauge where the design should be placed. However, they don’t allow you to snap the text to the grid lines or lock elements so that they cannot be moved. They do let you drag and drop images and text and freehand draw lines and shapes on the card.
Card Quality
We rated GreatFX’s Card Quality 3 out of 5 stars. According to our test, the card was not very study and did not hold its shape when bent. The print on the card looked less sharp than usual because of the raised print type, and the light reflected a bit on the type. But, it was relatively easy to write on the card.
Cardstock, Finishes & Upgrades
The default card stock of GreatFX business cards is 12 point, which is standard thickness for business cards. The default card finish is matte, and they do not seem to offer a glossy finish option. However, you can upgrade to a Matte Coating (or Matte Laminate) or thicker card stock for a fee. (Matte Coating and thicker cardstock are included free with orders of 1000+ business cards.) For an additional $10, you can order business cards with rounded corners, instead of square corners. In addition to paper business cards, GreatFX also offers magnet business cards, plastic cards and metal cards.
Pricing & Turnaround TIme
The price per card for GreatFX business cards is 20 cents, which is relatively high, according to our Market Standard. For a total of $49, you’ll get 250 business cards. We paid an additional $8 for shipping (the lowest cost shipping option available). The total turnaround time for our business cards was 11 business days, which is on the slower end of our Market Standard range of eight to 12 days.
